Top Spring 2018 Ready-to-Wear Fashion Trends

Spring is finally here! Warm weather, blossoming flowers, colorful fashion and floral dresses. It’s definitely the time to get out of the house and go to the park with friends, a road trip or a hike. It’s also the time to store up your winter clothes and stock up on some cooler more colorful clothes. If you are like me and you usually gravitate toward monotone color like black, white and grey this might be the spring to come out of that shell and rock some bright colors. Besides bright colors, there are also a lot of new trends this spring that is quite fun. Most of these trends were made popular by the Spring 2018 fashion shows and designers embraced these trends in amazing ways and introduced new ways to look at old classics as well. For example, the Spring 2018 approach to the familiar pattern fuses classic red, purple, and gray checks with a Cher Horowitz sensibility: One can suit up entirely in a plaid skirt and blazer sets, pull on a patchwork plaid skirt, or swap a plaid button-down for one with tartan shoulder trimming.

We’ll discuss some of these below

Colorful Purse:

Purses are a wardrobe staple and if there’s any time to go searching for the Perfect Purse it’s this spring. You can get something colorful in any form or size. It could be a tote, or a sling bag, a clutch, or even a fanny pack which is coming back in style. Whatever style you choose, the perfect purse will go a long way to elevate your spring look. Get something that you feel most comfortable in and know will not get worn down easily. This way, you can wear it for most of your spring days.

New Earrings:

If there’s ever a time to try out those cool hoop earrings or those big colorful earrings, it’s in the spring. Accessories go well with most spring outfits and they also make your entire look pop. They are a great way to infuse color into an outfit if you don’t want to wear bold colors. Throw on a classic white tee and pair it with a bold red earring and see how they make you feel. Or wear a nice blue dress and contrast it with bold yellow floral earrings. Spring is the time for bold colors.

Denim on Denim:

Denim on denim used to be a fashion no-no and oh did they miss out. Will denim ever not be a trend? Well, let’s just say this season it’s going to be even more of a trend. Think head to toe denim looks – even denim boots too. That look will definitely be a show stopper. This spring is a perfect time to test it out. Throw on a pair of denim pants and jacket and cushion it with a nice colorful caisson or a t-shirt. You can never go wrong with denim and it’s ok to mix different shades or even colors too.

Floral Print:

Ok this is self-evident but spring is the time for florals. You’ll be matching with the blossoming flowers and how awesome is that.To remain in the theme of mixing and matching, the spring/summer 2018 is embracing the mixing of different prints and patterns in the same outfit. There were some great examples on the runway this season. If you want to do this, use your judgment and creativity to mix and match. As a rule, you can stick with one color palette but different prints or one style of print but in different colors. Forever you could mix blue and yellow stripes with white and black stripes. This way, there is some unism in your outfit even though it’s all different prints.

Pinks and Red:

Speaking of colors, designers have been making the unconventional choice of paring two unlikely colors together and it looks good. Red and Pink is the power couple of colors this spring. Pink is going to be one of the main colors this spring/summer 2018 and learning fun ways to pair it with other colors is always a great idea.

Athleisure:

Athilesurewere has been a thing for some time now even though it’s still not fully crept into some markets like the European market. The American fashion scene is embracing it in full gear. Kanye’s new collection is entirely athleisure inspired. Sportswear pieces and fabrics made appearances on the runway in full looks or alongside skirts and silk dresses for a new take on athleisure, of which some said this fashion month marked the end. The jumpsuits at Dior, Fenty X Puma, and Marc Jacobs recalled scuba diving, motocross, and skiing suits.

Jumpsuits:

Jumpsuits are going to be a staple item in our wardrobe this spring, and we can’t wait. There’s going to be one for every style and body shape. And the great thing about jumpsuits is you don’t have to think about it! You just throw them on and you already have a put together look.

Sheer:

Yes, you do need to be a bit bold to embrace this trend, but the good news is that there are all sorts of transparency and colors. You can wear a camison inside and still rock the look perfectly. Get inspired by the runway and then adapt it to your own style and taste.

Statement Sleeves:

Lastly, a great spring trend is statement sleeves. Whether they’re on one-shouldered styles or with split ends, these can be easily fit into any outfit. It’s the easiest way to level up any basic outfit, so we welcome the trend, quite literally, with open arms. Brands like Zara, Mango and Stradivarius are already stocking up with these statement sleeve items. It shouldn’t be too hard to find one you can rock with confidence and style.

Armed with this new information and fashion tips you can go and do your spring shopping with confidence and great intention. Don’t forget that your greatest accessory is confidence and a smile.
